Seasons: Summer / Fall

Three Trees, 2002, acrylic on panel, 13 x 12 in.

Pond Life

Horse- and dragonflies humming about,
calm cool water to your nose.
Only you
glide among the lilies
with silent strokes
pretending to be a frog,
looking for others.
No one is fooled.
The frogs remain hidden,
predator snakes ashore.

Breezeway, 1995, acrylic on panel, 15 x 20 in.

Fall Colors, 2009, acrylic on panel, 24 x 34 in.

Park II

Picnic table
solely occupied,
one to see
October’s unflecked dome
pouring out its final warmth
on turning trees and honking geese.

Fall Born

Not half the size of my small hand,
like soft clumsy toy tanks
fall kittens march
across crackling ground.

October, 2001, acrylic on canvas, 16 x 18 in.

Sunshine, 2006, acrylic on panel, 16 x 16 in.

Ghost Tree, 2008, acrylic on canvas, 24 x 18 in.
